Fluid Systems

Changes in automobile powertrains in the 1980’s spawned a new style of vibration isolators. These special mounts filled with fluid can be statically stiff to accommodate torque, but dynamically soft in one or two frequency bands to isolate idle or idle & cruise. They can also be highly damped in one frequency band to control vertical engine resonance due to road input. Displacement amplitude can be used to switch between sets of properties.
